The expression “I have a word from the Lord for you” is sometimes heard in our Christian circles. Some single women have even heard, “God told me you would be my wife.” Beware! You must be very careful before receiving such a message.
Stop for a moment and think about it: the season you are in is part of your training. God wants to mold your soul, transform your thoughts, and your character. He wants to teach you a very specific lesson; are you listening?
We have all experienced disappointments; desires that have not been fulfilled. Is it better not to hope to avoid disappointment? No, hope is an essential force in our lives. Disappointments should not stop us, but rather lead us to make some adjustments.
Our emotions can be hurt, our hearts broken, and we need to seek healing for this. But that doesn’t mean we can no longer love! Through the Holy Spirit, we can tap into another source of emotions.
Whether after a long day at work or after months of battling a major challenge, it’s good to take time to rest. God even made rest a commandment! But be careful, resting doesn’t mean letting yourself go.
It’s a very popular expression. It can be used to be prepared (in the sense of: To be on the safe side), or out of worry (that is: What if such an unfortunate thing were to happen…). Being prepared is good, but not being worried.
This was one of the first things God said to Adam and Eve: Have dominion! Yet, many Christians are only trying to survive their daily lives. Where has our heritage gone? It is not beyond our reach, thanks to the sacrifice of Jesus.
All kinds of situations can trigger emotions. That’s life! It’s important to remember that resolving the situation won’t change our emotions. The ideal way is usually to start by addressing our emotions.
As children of God, we enjoy all kinds of undeserved blessings. But sometimes we go through more difficult times. And even these hardships can be positive for us if we react in the right way.
